Half-Naked Santas Run for Charity
Wearing naught but their skivvies, over a hundred Hungarians ran through the streets of Budapest in temperatures that fell below freezing for charity on Sunday afternoon. The near-nude santas supported a children’s foundation, Magic Lamp, which helps make sick kids’ dreams come true. In its early days, the event only brought twelve runners, a humble beginning to the scantily clad charity run that now, in its ninth run has attracted a much bigger crowd.
And they aren’t the only ones…
The U.S. has its own version, the Santa Speedo Run.
What began in 2000 when a group of five friends has grown into an annual, mutli-city event to raise money for charity. “Runners are asked to wear a speedo-like bathing suit, preferably in holiday colors, and encouraged to accessorize with Santa hats, beards and other seasonal jingle-jangle.”
It’s too late to register for most of the runs that haven’t already passed, but the next time you see a shiny new speedo on sale, you might consider buying it for next year’s run. It’s definitely on my list.
I mean, how could anyone pass up on this?
